Microneedling – also known as Dermapen method – is a safe and non-invasive therapy known for its skin-restructuring and firming effects. The Dermapen is a device that has surgical-steel micro-needles on its head moving in and out, causing about 1300 micro-injuries in the skin.

Which type of concerns can the treatment address?

  • fine lines, crow’s foot and wrinkles
  • acne scars, burn scars and surgical scars
  • pigment spots
  • enlarged pores

How does Microneedling work?

The micro-injuries caused by the micro-needles of the Dermapen stimulate our immune system, which starts the body’s natural regenerating and wound healing process.
During this regenerating process, new collagen and elastic cells are formed, leading to weakened lines in the skin. At the same time, due to the intensified blood circulation inside the skin, cells will have an improved nutrient supply, which results in a refreshed and rejuvenated skin texture.
Further positive effects can be achieved by augmenting the treatment with hyaluronic acid and other ampoules containing high-dosage active ingredients tailored to the treated skin’s needs. These ingredients also help the regenerative process of the skin, so the forming of new collagen and elastic cells start right after the therapy.

How many treatments are suggested?

The number of treatment sessions depends on the severity of the conditions. After the initial consultation, it usually takes 3-6 treatments to achieve the desired result. Furthermore, based on the state of the skin, an occasional refreshing treatment might be necessary.

How often should you attend the treatments?

Typically, the treatments are spaced 2-4 weeks apart, but it is highly dependent on individual needs and the state of the skin. The smaller the problem is, the more frequent the treatments need to be. The details will be discussed during our initial consultation.

After the microneedling treatment session

In the 1-2 days following the treatment, the skin might be slightly pink to red and swelled. Starting from the first day after the treatment it is allowed to apply make-up to the treated areas, however one must avoid direct sunlight and UV exposure for at least 2 weeks after the procedure. It is important to use a high level broad spectrum sunblock on daily basis during this period, for which I recommend Solar+ from Dr. Schrammek, specifically designed for facial skin.
